has received an overwhelming response from many of our members. We want to thank everyone who participated in November and December by preparing meals, serving and donating to the Shelter Committee. As great as this response has been, we are still in need of volunteers for January 2, 2012 at Shearith Israel Shelter. We hope that others in the Congregation will step forth and say Hineni (Here I Am) ready to help.  Thank you all. ---Alan Wexler and Naomi Gold

ETGAR 36 The Movie
Coming soon to a theater near you...
A documentary about Etgar 36! After returning home from another successful summer program, I was contacted by a documentary film producer about the possibility of making a documentary about the Etgar journey. The producer had heard about the program from a friend who had a son on the 2011 trip and asked me to come to Los Angeles to meet with her and two award winning filmmakers. It was clear from the start that they understood the unique mission of Etgar 36 and sought to create a film that illustrated the individual and collective awakening that occurs during the course of the summer.

In early November, the filmmakers flew to Atlanta to observe a weekend Civil Rights journey that I led and they became even more excited about creating this documentary.  While this is very exciting, I have learned that everything in the film business is tenuous. Even if it does not happen, it has been incredibly affirming and exciting to know that some major filmmakers think Etgar 36 is worthy of a major documentary film. In the meantime, I will continue to hit the gym as I have been told the camera adds 10 pounds!
