AA CONGREGATION HAS HELPED nearly 50,000 ATLANTA FRIENDS IN 2009-2010
(Here’s just a sampling of our accomplishments)
- BLOOD DRIVE: More than 160 pints of blood have been collected through American Red Cross for area hospitals and other medical locations during our four quarterly Sunday collection times.
- HUNGER WALK: More than 36,000 meals have been served to the homeless because of the donations of AA members. AA was the #1 contributor of all religious organizations in metro Atlanta for the 2nd time in 3 years.
- OPERATION ISAIAH/SHARING OUR SHABBAT/OTHER FOOD DRIVES: Our closest estimate is that more than 10,000 meals have been served from our Operation Isaiah, Haitian Relief, Sharing Shabbat Kiddush Leftover Food Program and several other food drives AA sponsored.
- SHELTERS: More than 822 shelter residents were served home cooked meals by AA members (Shearith Israel: 294; Zaban-Temple: 528) during the period November 2009-April 2010.
- SHARING OUR ABUNDANCE/OTHER CLOTHES DRIVES: More than 1,000 people have received clothing items from our Succoth, Haitian, and other clothing drives.
- HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: A family in southwest Atlanta is living in a brand new home because of the work and donations of AA members and other area churches. AA has assisted in building more than 10 Habitat homes in recent years.
- PASSOVER SHARING BASICS (Toiletries): More than 1,000 people were provided soap, toothpaste, and other bathroom necessities because of this drive. These items helped the recipient’s transition from shelters/temporary housing to permanent housing.
- SAVE DARFUR/CARE INC. EMERGENCY RELIEF: Various specific assistance was provided to world-wide service agencies by many AA members.
